    Indian Police Force (2024)

Published: Jan 19, 2024 by Riz · Leave a Comment

Indian Police Force is a Hindi-language action-thriller web series, directed by Rohit Shetty (as part of his fictional Cop Universe) and Sushwanth Prakash. Season 1 follows DCP Kabir Malik and Joint CP Vikram Bakshi as they investigate a series of bombings.

    Season 1 review

The first season of Indian Police Force is not good. Given the budget and the known cast, I was hoping for something more. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a prestige cop show that would have a lasting impact on me, but at least something silly-but-exciting in the vein of the SWAT or Lethal Weapon TV shows.

Instead, Indian Police Force is a boring procedural with shockingly bad production value, and lots of very low budget CGI fire. Many of the scenes look like they're shot in front of a green screen, while the sound for the entire show is lazily put together - you can tell all the dialogue was dubbed in an empty studio somewhere six months after filming.

The direction is terrible. Rohit Shetty is one lens flare and about two jump cuts away from becoming a dollar store Michael Bay parody.

The action is hit or miss. The first episode opens well, but then quickly falls into dumb Shetty-isms where children have to tell the police what a bomb looks like or an armed police force pulling guns on a five year old child. The hand to hand fight scenes are especially bad throughout, but latter episodes do provide a bit more in terms of entertaining action sequences.

The cast phone in their roles. Siddharth Malhotra continues to prove to us that he's not a good actor while newcomer Mayyank Taandon does nothing worth watching in the role of the villain (who gets an a strangely forced romance arc). Vivek Oberoi puts in an acceptable performance, while Shilpa Shetty hams it up, but is fun to watch.

The story is a series of cliches, and it capitalises on every terrible Islamist terrorist trope you can think of, but had potential to be more enjoyable. It's a simple idea, that's been done to death, and still could have been handled much better.

Are there any animals in Indian Police Force

There are no animals in Indian Police Force.

Should you watch Indian Police Force

No. No, you shouldn't. There are so many better Hindi language shows available to watch. There's nothing compelling or worthwhile here. I'm hoping there's no Season 2 (because I'm a glutton for punishment, and I might end up watching it).

    1 star.
