Huckleberry ("Huck") is the ship dog. He is killed early in the movie when he discovers Dracula lurking below the ship's deck. Though the killing takes place offscreen (it is implied via a sound queue and shadows), his bloody and mutilated body is clearly shown and lingered upon shortly after. A few minutes later, we see a member of the crew prepare to throw his corpse overboard.
The mutilated bodies of livestock are also shown and lingered upon.
