Movie review
I like low budget, low stakes thrillers. The home invasion genre is pretty tired and See for Me (which is essentially a spin on 2016's Hush) adds a little life to the usual state of affairs.
It’s an easy enough watch that’s mostly well-paced, and well-acted (and it has a short appearance by Smallville's Laura Vandervoort). It's nice to see the visually impaired protagonist played by Skyler Davenport, who themself, is visually impaired.
The premise is a fun one, albeit slightly silly, that has our protagonist relying on a mobile app designed to have helpers see for visually impaired users. Usually, home invasion films like this follow a certain structure with very some easily identifiable story beats. See for Me tries to mix things up a little.
To its credit the movie does actually set up some interesting dynamics. But then fails completely to do anything with them: no questions, actions, or consequences. It feels wasted. And in some ways kills the character arc that does take place.
Are there animals in See for Me
Yes, there is a cat. Take a look at Does the Cat Die in See For Me for more details.
Should you watch See for Me
All in all, See for Me is fine to watch providing you don't have high expectations of the. genre. The film doesn't offer much, but it also doesn't ask for much in return. It's perfect as a lazy Sunday afternoon watch while you're folding laundry.
